Happy New Year!
A New Year, a new dawn, new opportunities, new hopes, new joys, new desires, new breakthroughs and a whole new lease on life, that is what the year 2012 brings us in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, amen!!
Like John in his third letter I say:
“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way and [that your body] may keep well, even as [I know] your soul keeps well and prospers.”
How can our souls keep well and prosper in the year 2012, through nourishment, just as our bodies need the correct nourishment so do our souls and the nourishment that our souls need is the Word of God. We need to read, listen to, meditate on and chew on the Word of God, and then we need to take it to another level, we need to act out the Word of God. Yes! Bringing the Word of God to life in our lives, that we may truly be Bibles, known and read of all men, amen!
So who’s in? Who’s up for a ‘six-pack soul’? The recipe is quite easy really, plenty of milk and meat from the Word of God, that’s our protein sorted. Then exercise, exercise, exercise, i.e. walk, talk and live the Word of God and then checkmate! Six-pack here we come!
The Number Twelve
Searching the Internet for biblical meanings of the number twelve I came up with this:
|12 THE NUMBER OF GOVERNMENTAL PERFECTION. There were 12 tribes of Israel; 12 Apostles, 12 foundations in the heavenly Jerusalem; 12 gates; 12 pearls; 12 angels. The measurements of New Jerusalem are 12,000 furlongs or stadia, while the wall will be 144 (12 x 12) cubits (Rev. 21:16-17).|
Personally, I’ve always had it at the back of my mind that the number twelve represents service, the twelve Apostles serving Jesus and serving the church. In the gospel according to John chapter 13 verses 3- 17 we see Jesus the Master washing the feet of His disciples, not lording it over them but teaching them to serve one another and to serve the brethren.
Very often people seeking elective office talk about “serving the people”. Where there is good governance the leaders serve the people, they don’t rule but lead by example, getting their hands dirty that others may follow in their steps.
As we seek governmental perfection in the year 2012, may we humble ourselves and pray, may we humble ourselves and serve one another, may we humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God that in due season He may exalt us.
The number one speaks of ‘unity’ in 2012 may the universal church be united to overcome all the wiles of the enemy, we must stop the ‘in-fighting’ and begin to build each other up
One of the things the number two talks of is ‘being a witness’. We MUST be witnesses for Jesus, our light must shine! We’ve been learning the ropes and playing church and that’s great but 2012 has come and it’s time for us to showcase what we’ve learnt. We need to step out of the four walls of the church and demonstrate who we are in Christ Jesus.
Our families need to know, our nation needs to know, indeed the world at large needs to know and see that being a Christian is not about a Sunday-Sunday ritual. It’s about impacting our land for good, it’s about making a positive difference, it’s about bringing the blessings of Christ, the victory of Jesus and the love of an awesome God to bear in a world crying out for help!
2012 is our year and it’s our turn to be a united force, a powerful witness and a willing tool to serve up victory in every facet of our lives, our homes and our nation!
See you at the victory parade, tons of love LolaA
