WALKING THE TALK

Is The World Coming To An End???

Are we privy to the closing stages of the world as we know it?

Very recently someone asked me, “is the world coming to an end?” With all the recent happenings around us one cannot but ponder on one of the biggest questions of our time.

The Middle East / North Africa

Tunisia
It all started in Tunisia, December 17th, 2010 Mohamed Bouazizi, a young unemployed man tries to sell vegetables on the streets of Sidi Bouzid, he’s prevented by town officials due to lack of permission. Mohamed senses hopelessness closing in on him and in an act of desperation he sets fire to himself, and thus the protests were ignited. Just a spark in one of the poorest regions of the country but the ember fed on the resentment and frustration of a suppressed people and as the weeks passed the fire gathered steam. As wild fires are wont to do it destroyed years of apparent stability in its path and slowly but steadily approached Tunis the capital, it ultimately consumed President Zine al-Abidine Ben who on the 14th of January 2011 stepped down “temporarily” and fled to Saudi Arabia with his family.

Egypt
Inspired by the success in Tunisia, Egypt decided to have a go of its own and whalah! President Hosni Mubarak, who had been in power for thirty years, resigned on the 11th of February 2011 following weeks of protests in the capital, Cairo, and other cities.

The Baton was passed to Yemen, protesters wanted President Ali Abdullah Saleh out after almost 32 years of ‘service’.

Libya
Libya of course didn’t want to be left out and on the 16th of February an uprising began against Col Muammar Gaddafi’s rule. The rebels made good progress taking over much of eastern Libya including Benghazi, Libya’s second city and even setting up a 30-member Interim Transitional National Council. Muammar Gaddafi and his son Saif, however, have refused to sit on the sidelines and have come out to fight the rebels with the full might of the state, vowing that they will have to be carried out in body suits before they would leave power. There are international fears that the state of affairs is degenerating into a civil war and the UN Security Council has imposed sanctions, they’d like a no-fly zone etc.etc. imposed, but the West is a bit war weary.

Bahrain is having a go of its own and foreign nationals have started the race to leave the country and even Saudi Arabia has not been totally immune to the going on’s in its neighbourhood.

Japan

Friday the 11th of March 2011 seemed liked any other working day in Japan, the afternoon was settling in and very soon the weekend would arrive, little did anybody know that thousands would not live to see this particular weekend.
At 14.46 local time, the earth shook and quaked as a tremor with a magnitude of 8.9 struck off the coast of Honshu, Japan and before people could regain their composure and try to think, the sea dutifully responded. It rose high on its heels and spit itself over the land as far as eyes could see, uprooting everything in its path. When it was called to order and returned to its abode the tsunami had left unimaginable devastation. Whole towns had been flatten, planes and ships now perched where buildings once stood.

Sadly the worst was yet to come, Japan prepares for earthquakes just as the West prepare for terrorist attacks and they were well prepared, but this particular tremor, so many thousands times the strength of the one that recently stuck New Zealand, was quite difficult to prepare for and who knows how to prepare for a ferocious tsunami. The real after problem however is the explosions at the nuclear plants, the fires and the melt down of the reactors.
Now radiation pollution and contamination is striking fear into a nation that doesn’t do fear.

Over 5,000 thousand people have been confirmed dead from the earthquake and the tsunami that it triggered, over 9,500 are still missing, but there is no estimate on the seemingly unseen effects of radio-active particles sipping into the atmosphere and that is what breeds fear.

It’s just March, the third month of the year, yet 2011 has already set so many records, albeit sad ones.

So will we be here after the 21st of December 2012, the Mayan calendar doesn’t have a clue and according to Nostradamus we should have all died in 1999.
Is this world going to come to an end some day? Yes, who know when? The Father God knows! He knows when, where and how, indeed He knows all things. He advises us not to speculate about things we have no control over, but to hand the control of our souls to the one who holds the universe in His hands.

When the end comes, or our own individual ends come, we will as a necessity meet with the One who set the ball rolling in the first place, He’ll have just one question.
What did you do with the gift I gave you…., JESUS the CHRIST?

    Dear Sister Lola.
I will have to send you a private mail regarding some other issues.

Without a doubt this present arrangement or cosmos will come to an end. It is not the first time this has happened. Remember Noah. History and Archaeology bears witness, even though without such witness, the Word of God remains forever inerrant, infallible and true.

What is also assured is that Man will live forever. The choices we make will determine where- Heaven with Jesus Christ or Hell.
The love of God, however, is so available for all to come to Him before death brings us all to His certain judgement.

  2. I have thoought about this several times. Yesterday night in my head I was trying to recite the scriptures that refers to such things.
I believe whatever the times we are in, Christ is coming soon so getting prepared to meet our Lord might be what we all need to be thinking about.
